Prof. Dr. Matthias Faes Receive the ECCOMAS O. C. Zienkiewicz Award 2026

Prof. Matthias Faes, Head of the Chair for Reliability Engineering, is the recipient of the ECCOMAS O. C. Zienkiewicz Award 2026.
The distinction honours outstanding contributions by researchers under 40 in Computational Engineering Sciences.

The Chair for Reliability Engineering is pleased to announce that Prof. Dr. Matthias Faes has received the 2026 Olgierd Cecil Zienkiewicz Young Investigator Award from the European Community on Computational Methods in Applied Sciences (ECCOMAS).

Presented every two years at the ECCOMAS Congress, the Zienkiewicz Award is one of ECCOMAS’s two Young Investigator Awards (next to the Jacques Louis Lions Award) and recognises outstanding contributions to Computational Engineering Sciences. Candidates are nominated by members of the ECCOMAS community, while the recipients are selected by an independent awards committee. The 2026 award was presented during the opening session of the WCCM-ECCOMAS 2026 Congress in Munich on 20 July 2026.

The Chair for Reliability Engineering warmly congratulates Prof. Faes on this outstanding achievement and the international recognition of his contributions to computational engineering research.
